The Conference Championships are on their way!!! And here are my picks for this playoff round:
Vikings At Saints-Toss Up??? The Vikings key to success will have to be to run the ball. I know that against the Cowboys rush defense, Adrian Peterson had 26 rushes for 63 yards which is about 2.4 Yds/carry. However the Saints rush defense is a little worse. Look for the Vikings to run the ball, as the passing game will not do well against a Saints defense with the most interceptions caught, led by Darren Sharpers 9, a league-high. And the only fast vikings receiver, Percy Harvin is out. The Saints key to success is to use the running game to open the passing game. The Vikings may be missing CB Antoine Winfield, and CB Barry Sapp, so Drew Brees should pick apart the secondary. And Reggie Bush averages a monstrous 5.6 yds/carry, Pierre Thomas averages over 5 yds/carry, and Mike Bell and Lynell Hamilton are the Goal Line RBs. The saints are 6th in rushing yds/game (one spot above the Cowboys), with over 131 per game. However Drew Brees is the most efficient QB in the NFL with 34 TDs-11 INTs and a league best 106.9 passer rating. So expect the Saints' explosive offense to use the run to open up the pass. AFC report will be posted in a new thread soon.
